It’s mission was to fill a vacuum in Irish radical circles, to be a publication that raised questions and provoked debate, rather than laying out blueprints for success, as had been the norm in the more theoretical work of the left. It was established at a time where a fightback was believed to be imminent, when the expectation was that as the (economic) beatings continued, morale would improve.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\n
\r\n The intervening years produced a series of false starts. The big ICTU demonstrations in the infancy of the crisis proved to be safety valves for the expulsion of steam from the rank and file, and were tightly controlled by the bureaucracy. The Occupy phenomenon was a reaction against that type of protest, and it did release a wave of creative energy, but it’s structurelessness ultimately had the same effect, and that energy escaped into the ether. There have also been strikes and occupations, the Unlock Nama campaign, the campaign against household and water taxes (CAHWT) and a massive resurgence in the campaign for abortion access.
\r\n

\r\n

\r\n\";s:21:\"node_revisions_format\";s:1:\"2\";s:7:\"_random\";s:20:\"0.032893016965028846\";}i:1;O:8:\"stdClass\":5:{s:3:\"nid\";s:4:\"4354\";s:10:\"node_title\";s:22:\"Workers Solidarity 106\";s:21:\"node_revisions_teaser\";s:587:\"

\r\n
\r\n
Click on one of the thumbnails for a a PDF version of the northern or southern edition of Workers Solidarity 106 which can be printed out on eight A4 pages.
\r\n\";s:21:\"node_revisions_format\";s:1:\"2\";s:7:\"_random\";s:17:\"0.054876327565756\";}}s:10:\"total_rows\";i:73;s:5:\"pager\";a:5:{s:9:\"use_pager\";s:1:\"0\";s:14:\"items_per_page\";i:2;s:7:\"element\";i:0;s:6:\"offset\";i:1;s:12:\"current_page\";i:0;}}', created = 1565441155, expire = 1565441455, headers = '', serialized = 1 WHERE cid = 'Random_PDF:block_1:results:9d554b6a6970e8a5d451f2ea48bcdd76' in /var/www/public/includes/cache.inc on line 112.

The uprisings in Brazil - interview with Brazilian anarchist in Sao Paulo by Workers Solidarity on Mixcloud

In the wake of the momentous uprisings in Brazil last month, the WSM interviewed Felipe Corrêa, a Brazilian anarchist militant based in Sao Paulo on the events. This short, 40 minute interview was recorded over the internet on the evening of 15th July 2013. In addition to this podcast, there is also an interview with the OASL [Organização Anarquista Socialismo Libertário (Libertarian Socialism Anarchist Organisation)], the Anarkismo organisation in Sao Paulo that Felipe is a member of, by two members who are also involved in the Free Pass Movement (MPL) that was at the origins of the mobilisations.
