Abortion is still illegal in Ireland. For over 20 years anarchists have been involved in the struggle to for its decriminalisation. Oisín Mac Giollamóir a member of the Workers Solidarity Movement and activist in Choice Ireland will talk about this struggle.

The Republic of Ireland has one of the most draconian abortion laws in the world. At present abortion may only be performed where continuation of pregnancy poses a 'real and substantial' risk to a pregnant woman's life - about 5 cases per year of 50,000 pregnancies

Oisín Mac Giollamóir is an anarchist from Dublin, Ireland currently living in England. He has been active in the anarchist movement for 7 years in a wide variety of campaigns, organisations and initiatives. He is a member of the Workers Solidarity Movement and has been an editor of their magazine Red and Black Revolution for the last two years. He is also a member of the recently founded British anarchist-communist group Liberty and Solidarity. Recently he has been involved in setting up the anarchistblackcat.org webforum and has been active in Choice Ireland, an Irish pro-choice group.

This event is hosted by the Baltimore-Washington Local of NEFAC (Northeastern Federation of Anarchist Communists)
