It’s mission was to fill a vacuum in Irish radical circles, to be a publication that raised questions and provoked debate, rather than laying out blueprints for success, as had been the norm in the more theoretical work of the left. It was established at a time where a fightback was believed to be imminent, when the expectation was that as the (economic) beatings continued, morale would improve.
\r\n
\r\n
\r\n
\r\n The intervening years produced a series of false starts. The big ICTU demonstrations in the infancy of the crisis proved to be safety valves for the expulsion of steam from the rank and file, and were tightly controlled by the bureaucracy. The Occupy phenomenon was a reaction against that type of protest, and it did release a wave of creative energy, but it’s structurelessness ultimately had the same effect, and that energy escaped into the ether. There have also been strikes and occupations, the Unlock Nama campaign, the campaign against household and water taxes (CAHWT) and a massive resurgence in the campaign for abortion access.
\r\n

\r\n

\r\n\";s:21:\"node_revisions_format\";s:1:\"2\";s:7:\"_random\";s:20:\"0.005725834524003635\";}i:1;O:8:\"stdClass\":5:{s:3:\"nid\";s:4:\"1297\";s:10:\"node_title\";s:36:\"Two Solidarity posters with Rossport\";s:21:\"node_revisions_teaser\";s:440:\"
\r\n We have produced two posters expressing solidaity with the community struggle in Rossport and opposition of state suppression of that poster. -What is Queer Spraoi?

Queer Spraoi is a project to engage queerness in Dublin on a new level. We organise events, such as gigs, film nights and workshops around the social centre Seomra Spraoi.

In an era where we're led to believe that queerness is a commercialised 'lifestyle choice' to be bought and sold, we want to establish a radical community that celebrates our diversity, our differences and brings us together. To have fun, learn from each other, and have hot makeouts behind our grandparents' tool sheds while wearing multicoloured Tutus and acting improperly towards the family silverware.

Out of the bedrooms! Into the streets!
Event date and time:
