Anarchist Reading Group Explores Theory, Movement and Practice.

In the first of what will hopefully become a fortnightly anarchist reading group, we have decided to look at three short texts exploring the relationship between activism and theory. A discussion of the interaction between radical theory and movement practice seems like a rather obvious starting point to kickstart an anarchist reading group. All of the chosen articles are available free online and are short and snappy. The longest is a transcription of a round table discussion that flits and darts in conversational style over areas our own discussion might cover.

Report from the Terence Wheelock Anniverary march

On Saturday 16th September member of the WSM took part in the 'Justice for Terence Wheelock' march from Sean McDermot Street church to Store street Gardai station where he died in custody. The WSM supports the families demand for a full independent enquiry.

Inaugural Manifesto of the Irish Socialist Republican Party (1896)

The Irish Socialist Republican Party was set up by James Connolly in May 1896, the initial meeting was held in the snug of Pierce Ryan’s public house at 50 Thomas Street. This Inaugural Manifesto was issued in September 1896 and was probably distributed at the places where the ISRP held regular public meetings; the Customs House, the Fountain in James st, in the Phoenix Park and at Forster place. They also had a Club room at 67 Middle Abbey street

Talking about Sexual Violence. Report from the RAG dayschool

In June, the women members of the WSM hosted a dayschool on Women in Revolutionary Struggle. Following on from this, RAG (Revolutionary Anarcho-Feminist Group) decided to host a women's only day-school on sexual violence. This was held in the in the new Seomra Spraoi space in Dublin.
